Konkani Samudai Jayanagar Picnic 2009
Bangalore, Dec 13: Picnic was held at Radiant Resorts and Wellness Club on
Bannerghatta Road. It was a beautiful location with all sorts of amenities..
swimming pool, club halls, cricket ground, table tennis, basket ball court,
throw ball court, shuttle badminton court, parks etc. There were totally 90
members and guests present and the Executive committee members ensured that
there was a good gathering. Picnic tickets were priced at Rs 300/- for adults, 5
to 12 years it was Rs 150/- and below 5 years it was free of cost.

Transport was arranged from
Jayanagar church and most of the members made use of it as it gives a good
picnic atmosphere from the starting point itself. Buses left the Jayanagar
church at 08:30am and reached the resort by 8:50am. Upon arrival, breakfast was
served to all (idli, vada and juice and coffee/tea).
Programs started off with a prayer conducted by Mrs. Judith D’souza. Mr. A.S
Almeida welcomed all the members and guests. Fun games were organized by Mrs.
Diana Shanbhoge, Mrs. Mildred Menezes, Mrs. Mercia Martis and Mrs. Judith
D’souza. First game was about introduction of members using the cards and was
quite innovative. There were games conducted for every age group and was very
well planned and executed. One of the group games was building the tallest tower
using the news papers and once could see all totally involved in a team event
like atmosphere. By the time fun games were completed, we could sense the thirst
in everyone and the bar and soft drinks counter was open to quench the thirst.
Meanwhile, there were melodious songs sung by Mr. Percy Pereira, Mr. Alfred
Fernandes and Mr. Anil Braggs and few others also joined the chorus. As usual,
the lone army of background music was provided by Mr. Percy Pereira with his
fantastic playing of the guitar. Some of them were seen playing basketball and
some shuttle badminton and some indoor games. We could also see the children
enjoying in the swimming pool and in their own world and not willing to come out
of it.


Delicious lunch buffet was ready
by afternoon (Tomato soup, assorted roties, kadai chicken, chicken kabab, rice,
rasam, dhal tadka, gobi manchuri, peas pulao, fruit salad with ice cream) and
Fr. Pascal Cutinho blessed the lunch. After lunch, housie housie was conducted
followed by another round of music which kept the audience awake. Meanwhile, all
the cricket enthusiasts started their cricket matches till tea break.
By the time the match completed, it was time for high tea. The role of
Coordinator and host for the picnic was taken care by Mr. Lawrence Saldanha and
Mr. Allen Pais donned the role of the official photographer. Following tea,
Santa Claus arrived in the Mexican hall to everyone’s surprise and it gave a
great start to the festive Christmas season and to the singing of Christmas
carols at Samudai’s member’s homes. Secretary Mr. Jerome D’Silva concluded the
picnic by his vote of thanks.
