Picnic of Emirates Pangalites

Dubai, Nov 13: Friday, Emirates Pangalites held their annual picnic. As
we know picnic is a simple pleasure excursion where people meet, greet, eat and
have lots of fun. It also gives a total relaxation from the daily burden of
house-hold cores. Picnic is the day we forget our routine jobs, hardships and
enjoy each other’s company in a peaceful atmosphere of part or lake in a green
and very peaceful spot.
Having the above intention in mind a sizable Pangalites joined with their
families and well wishers gathered at the very famous Zabeel Park, a beautiful
green park, with lots of trees and plants and the little birds chirping in the
background and a perfect day of sunshine and cool weather.

The proceeding began by Cultural
Secretary, Clevin D’Souza calling upon all Pangalites and welcoming them to the
beautiful day to relax and enjoy. The President Jovin D’Souza in his welcome
address explained the purpose of today’s meet and wished them good luck and
requested them to participate fully in the organized games.
Joel Quadras, a man who makes every event of Pangalites very successful in his
skillful and planned organization took over the responsibility of day long
picnic games. He said today if 13th Friday usually we call it The Devil’s Day,
but let us make it God’s Day by participating in all games and enjoying
ourselves thoroughly. He then explained the type of games being played, told the
rules of the games and to have total fun by playing all games organized to be
played in very cordial manner.

To be more convenient to have all
fun four groups were created and named them: Dare Devils, Pangala Flowers,
Deccan Express and Konkan Railways. All games were given points and the team
gets max points would be a winner.
The games were simply the best and Joel had really selected the total fun filled
games such as Pendulum, cartoon creation, lemon and spoon and playing these
games exiting as well enjoyment.
Once the above games were over a delicious lunch was served by teem member Hilda
D’Souza and was enjoyed by all a good taste of home made food.
A short quiz was conducted by Mickey Castelino and his wife Marlene Castelino
soon after the lunch based on various ads and personality Identification. The
interesting ad slogans were read and the each team was asked to identify the ad.
Some of the interesting slogans and ad were: Connecting People (Nokia), Add life
to life (Du), The unshakable (Bajaj Pulse), Let’s make things better (Phillips),
Made of each-other (Phillips), Leading the way (Hero-Honda), First Love (TV
Scooty), Born Tough (Ceat). Secondly a few photographs of famous personalities
in sports and politics were shown just for 5 seconds and teams were requested to
identify which was quite interesting and fun
The outdoor games too were organized such as aiming the wicket (Ball throw to
wickets from a distance) and the most exiting and eagerly waited was TUG-OF-WAR.
Every year Pangalites conducts this game and each year it becomes more and more
exiting and interested. Two each teams (Pangala Flowers & Deccan Express Vs
Konkan Railways & Dare Devils) joined and had four rounds. It was really a game
to watch and enjoy, both teams fighting each other to gain grounds and pulling
to-fro and finally on the fourth round Dare Devils and Konkan Railways emerged
as winners).
The prize distribution ceremony was held soon after. The following teams
declared winners and runners:
Dare Devils (Winner), Deccan Express (2nd), Konkan Railways (3rd) and Pangala
Flowers (4th).
The picnic was organized by: Joel, Mickey, Marlene, Rossini, Ashwin, Vinitha,
Dolphy & Shaila.
The President Jovin thanked all Pangalites for joining hands and participating
in all games. Jossie Mathias (Merit Freight) was the guest of honour and in his
short concluding speech requested all Pangalites to attend future picnics and
programs in large numbers for more interaction of people and to have more games
and fun. He also thanked the committee members for organizing this event in such
a beautiful atmosphere and fun and this day would be remembered for sometime.
Alphonse, the ex-president also spoke on the occasion and he too thanked all
members for organizing this picnic and in particular Joel who made this day a
day of total fun and merry through his dedication and proper arrangement of
games.
Well, finally it was the time to go with heavy heart but with fresh memories of
the day’s fun and enjoyment in their mind. The picnic concluded at about 6pm.
