KonCAB Kalanjali 2009

Bangalore, Nov 8: Konkani Catholic Association of Bangalore (KonCAB)
organised Kalanjali 2009, an annual cultural event to bring out the talents of
the Konkani speaking Catholic community residing in Bangalore on Sunday, 8th
November, 2009. The venue was Golden Jubilee Hall of St. Germain’s School,
Bangalore. Konkani community members attended the event in large numbers.

The Programme started with the prayer song by KonCAB Coir.

President of KonCAB Mr. Nerry D’Silva lit the lamp and declared open Kalanjali 2009.
The group events were pitted against each other of the 15 Konkani associations
operating in Bangalore under the umbrella of Konkani Catholic Association (KCA).
It was evident that lot of effort was put by the individual Associations in
preparing the participants in dancing, acting, singing and also in designing the
costumes used by the competitors.


The winners of the various competitions held with an ethnic tint of Konkani

Mr. Joe W. Lobo, a prominent figure of Konkani community and also the Director,
International Office, Christ University was the Chief Guest. In his speech, he
admired the active participation of Konkani community members in various
competitions. He wished KonCAB to continue organising such competitions in the
future as well to bring out the talents of the community.
Children of KonCAB members who excelled in various school / college exams and
sports activities were also honoured by Mr. Lobo with bouquet, memento and cash
prizes. The names of the Excellency Awardees and their achievements are as

Presidents of 11 Konkani community associations of Bangalore were guests of
honor for the event and they occupied the dais and distributed prizes to the
winners.
Many well-wishers and donors helped to fund the programme.
