Director, Ivan Fernandes awarded ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at TECOM Pearl Awards
Dubai, May 26: TECOM Investments, a leading developer of knowledge-based
business clusters and a member of Dubai Holding, today awarded the inaugural
edition of the ‘Pearl Awards' on 26 May, celebrating the mutual success and
growth achieved by TECOM Business Parks and its Business Partners. The awards
were presented at the Knowledge Village Auditorium by Abdullatif Al Mulla, CEO,
Tecom Investments and Dr. Amina Rustamani, CEO, Tecom Business Parks.
The Pearl Awards included 11
categories for Corporate Social Responsibility Achievement of the Year,
Innovation of the Year, Employer of Choice, Fastest Growing Company of the Year,
Customer Service, Globalization and Diversification, Contribution to the UAE
Society, HSE Award, Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year, and Award for
Maximum Suggestions made through VOICE IT - TECOM Investments' complaint and
feedback management system.
Mr. Ivan Fernandes, Founder and Managing Director of Ducont, the leader in
providing mobile banking and commerce solutions in the Middle East was awarded
the prestigious ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’. Ivan, a successful entrepreneur who
has received several awards for his innovation and leadership qualities in the
past including ‘Young Entrepreneur Award’ from FKCA and the Hind Ratan Award in
2006 was delighted to receive this award. Speaking after receiving the award,
Ivan said – “TECOM Business Parks has more than 1500 companies with several
outstanding entrepreneurs from round the world and to be selected as the
‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ is a very satisfying reward for all the challenges
that we overcame in the last 9 years. Ducont was one of the early startups at
Dubai Internet City and has grown in stature over these years to be a well
recognized brand in this region, thanks to the support of it growing list of
reputable customers which includes Dubai E-government, 40 plus banks and Saudi
Aramco”. Ivan spends considerable time in promoting entrepreneurship and is the
past president of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Dubai Chapter, the largest
entrepreneur organization in the world and Kanara Entrepreneurs Ltd (KEL),
Dubai. Recently, he has been appointed Chairman of KE Global which was created
to unite all the entrepreneurs from the Kanara region.
