Konkani Samudai (Jayanagar) Annual Get Together, Cultural and Talent Show 2009
Bangalore, Jan 26: Annual get together and talent show was held on 26th
January 2009 at Christha Prabhaalaya Church, Jayanagar. The main aim of this
event is to bring together all the Konkani Samudai members under one roof and
showcase their cultural talent & skills. At the same time, they get an
opportunity to familiarize themselves with other Samudai members and also the
younger generations get to know Konkani Catholic tradition. The cultural program
included competitions in singing, dance and fancy dress for all age groups and
honoring of the meritorious students who have got distinction in S.S.L.C, P.U.C,
Graduation Post Graduation, Engineering, Medicine, Sports (Represented National
or State Level), Catechism( 8th & 10th std) or excelled in other fields.
The morning program started with
the holy mass at 09:45am celebrated by Fr. Peter Mascarenhas, Fr. Pascal Cutinho
and Fr. Victor D’Mello. Following the mass, all members and guests gathered at
the Parish hall. There was a gathering totaling around 125 members and guests.
The cultural program started with prayer dance by the students of St. Antony
Girls High school followed by welcome speech by the President and honoring of
the guests and Judges. The chief guest of the program Mr. Charles Gomes
(Chairman, Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations) gave an inspiring speech
and provided valuable information about the Federation and updated the audience
on the upcoming Federation Day which is going to be held on 1st Febraury 2009.
Cultural programs for various categories were held in full spirit and the
audience enjoyed the cultural show. It was delightful to see participants from
all age groups ranging from 26 months to 73 years old on the stage with
enthusiasm and passion. In between the talent show competitions, there were two
skits performed by Mr. Vivian Pais, Mr. Jerome D’Silva, Mr. Allen Pais, Mrs.
Diana Shanbhoge, Mrs. Pinto and Mr. Valerian Menezes.
During the lunch break, members interacted with each other. This was followed by
Baila songs by Mr. Lawrence D’Souza, Mrs. Irene D’souza, Mr. Percy Perira, Fr.
Victor D’Mello, Mr. William D’Mello, Mr. Wilfred Fernandez and Mr. Anil Braggs.
The audience could not stop themselves from joining the performers further
enhancing the celebration. The whole day program was meticulously compered by
Master of Ceremonies Mr. Lionelle D’Souza and Mrs. Irene D’Souza.
Sponsors were honored by the President and the Secretary. After this, prize
distribution ceremony was held which was followed by housie housie conducted by
Mrs. & Mr. Kenny D’Souza. The Annual Get Together and Talent Show concluded by
Vote of thanks by Mr. Jerome D’Silva, Secretary of Konkai Samudai.
